An Etched design on glass is sandblasted on the surface, while Carving cuts more deeply into the back of the glass. This produces a bas relief appearance from the front, and catches more light on the deeper textures of the carving, an effect that can be enhanced with edge lighting. Designs in these two art forms can be in any style, and can be derived from your photographs, drawings and paintings, as well as other idea sources. On this page are examples of both Etching and Carving, created in several different styles. Hold cursor over an image for information. Click on any image to enlarge.
